Common diesel EML causes
EGR valve sticking or carboned up, swirl flap motor failure (BMW N47, VAG TDI), turbo VNT actuator sticking, MAF sensor drift, DPF differential pressure sensor blockage (often blocked pipes, not the sensor itself), AdBlue/SCR injector or NOx sensor failure, glow plug module fault, fuel rail pressure regulation issues, injector imbalance.
Common petrol EML causes
Misfire (coil pack, spark plug, injector), lambda heater circuit, catalyst efficiency, evap purge valve, knock sensor, MAF/MAP correlation, VVT solenoid failure, thermostat stuck open (catalyst not reaching light-off temperature), boost control on turbo petrols.
Why clearing codes is not 'removal'
If a tuner offers to 'remove' your EML by writing it out of the ECU map, walk away. That's tampering with emissions-critical strategy and is illegal on road-going vehicles in the UK. Proper EML removal means proper repair plus a proper clear — not a software hack.
DPF, EGR and AdBlue — when warning lights mean expensive
These three systems generate the most expensive light-on-dash failures. Catching them early (a partial regen warning, an early EGR code, a low AdBlue quality warning) is the difference between a sub-£200 repair and a £2,000+ replacement.
Coverage across Merthyr Tydfil, Cardiff, Swansea, Newport, Bridgend, Caerphilly, Port Talbot, Chepstow and Cwmbran
Most EML visits are completed in 60–90 minutes on-site. Common parts carried; specialist parts ordered and fitted on a follow-up visit at no second call-out charge.
